About Dr Julianne
Julianne is a very skilled aesthetic medicine provider – her main focus is to subtly enhance natural features to help restore confidence. She initially carried out her training with Dr Taimur Shoaib, a consultant plastic surgeon, at ‘La Belle Forme’ clinic in Glasgow and has subsequently completed courses at the Aesthetic Training Academy in Glasgow as well as a Lip Master course by Dr Tim Pearce.
She also spent time work shadowing top US cosmetic dermatologist Dr Heidi Waldorf at her New York clinic. Julianne provides wrinkle-reducing treatment (eg, Botox) as well as a wide range of dermal filler treatments in areas such as lips, cheeks and jawline. Evening appointments are available for consultations and treatment.

Softening lines around the mouth

These ladies were both very self-conscious of the deeper lines that had developed around their lips – sometimes known as ’smoker’s lines’ but not a very accurate term as neither of these ladies had smoked – a combination of deeper, volume-replacing filler as well as a more superficial filler to define the border of of the lips can work well here to soften the lines. Getting rid of them altogether is very difficult but these ladies were both very happy with the result that we achieved.

Filler treatment was used here to soften the lines that ran from this lady’s nose to the corner of her mouth (’nasolabial lines’). Around 2ml of deeper and superficial fillers were used here and you can see the difference it made for this lady.

This case is the classic complaint of the ’number 11’ frown lines. Because these lines have been there for a long time it is really difficult to erase them completely – the first step is anti-wrinkle treatment (eg, Botox) which has been done here. In four to six months some more anti-wrinkle treatment will be used and maybe a little filler treatment too if desired to help erase the line even more.

This lady was fed up with the lines on her forehead – they always appeared when she raised her eyebrows but were starting to be more and more noticeable when she was relaxing her muscles too. She felt it really aged her so some anti-wrinkle treatment was used (eg, Botox) and you can see how well it has softened those lines. The patient was delighted. At first she will probably need to have this treatment repeated every 4-6 months but as time goes by the muscles activity weakens slightly and you can wait longer intervals between treatment.

How does Botox treatment work?
Botulinum Toxin (Botox ®) when injected into a muscle temporarily relaxes the muscle by blocking nerve impulses. As the nerve impulses are blocked the muscle is temporarily unable to contract so that dynamic wrinkles are not formed. This gives the overlying facial skin a softer, smoother and more youthful appearance.
Is Botox treatment safe?
Botulinum Toxin as a muscle relaxant has an excellent safety record and a long record of use in medicine. It has been used successfully in adults and children in variety medical conditions over the last 20 years. It has been used cosmetically to treat facial wrinkles for about 15 years and has become one of the most popular and frequently used cosmetic treatments.
Does the injection hurt?
Botox injections are relatively painless as the injections are performed using a very fine needle. Patients therefore and do not require any anaesthesia. The full treatment takes about 15-20 minutes to perform and you are able to drive and go to work the same day.
How long does Botox last?
This depends entirely on the patient but a single treatment of Botox will normally be sustained for approximately 3 – 6 months. You will notice a gradual fading of its effects. At this point you will return to Skin Deep Medical for your next treatment. Usually, treatment is required 2 – 3 times a year
