Composite bonding can be used to build up worn teeth or to alter the appearance of teeth to improve the cosmetic appearance. Composite is the name for the white filling material which has been developed to mimic the natural enamel on the surface of your teeth. It comes in a huge variety of shades so we can match each individual patients shade. Its biggest advantages compared to other cosmetic treatments such as veneers or crowns is that you do not need to remove any of your existing enamel prior to bonding the composite which makes it kinder to your tooth in the long term.

What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is among the easiest and least invasive of all cosmetic dental procedures. Bonding is the application of a tooth coloured resin called composite to fix the shape or colour of your tooth. Composite bonding can easily repair chips, fractures, decay and discoloured teeth. It is also used to enhance the shape and the colour of teeth when needed. it can be used as an alternative to veneers.

How long does it take?

Composite bonding can be done in one visit.

Will be painful?

The treatment is not painful, there will be no need to have an injection for this treatment.

Can I eat straight away?

We advise you allow an hour after having treatment done to let the composite bonding settle.

When will I need them replacing?

Composite bonding, like any white fillings have on average a life expectancy of 5 years. This differs from each patient. Your dentist will check them on your 6 monthly check up appointments.

Wobbly tooth removed and new tooth added to my existing denture. Only took a couple of days and my new denture was back from the lab and fitted. I have been going to Hannigans for 18 months now and cannot fault them. I snapped my front tooth recently and was given an emergency appointment the very next day where kris repaired the tooth to a very high standard. All the staff are great and always go out their way to make you feel welcome and relaxed when visiting. Would highly recommend for both NHS and private care.

Recently registered with Hannigan after my dentist at another practice retired. From the outset I’ve been very impressed. Friendly, polite, professional and efficient staff. Excellent service from reception,and my dentist, Fiona, and her dental nurses. My initial examination was incredibly thorough and a couple of long-standing issues of which I was unaware were highlighted.
